Library
Because literacy and a love of reading is so
vitally important to the staff and teachers of Assumption School,
we strive to foster this love of reading in all our students. Therefore,
our school library has become a popular place for the students.
It is open in the morning and every lunch hour. As well, every
grade level has a library class each week where Parent Librarians
help students to pick out exciting books to read.
Thanks to
the generosity of parents, and a well-run P.E.C., hundreds of new
books are purchased every year, and include a wide range of material
that will meet the interests and reading levels of all our students.
These books include popular series, graphic novels, many excellent
non-fiction books, and best-sellers. We also regularly update our
board game collection, which the children may use during lunch hours.
As well, students may display their creativity on our library bulletin
board, which is changed to reflect the current seasons, holidays,
and student interest.
