About

By employing an effective, genuine, Participation Program, Assumption School is able to keep the tuition fees at an acceptable level. Proceeds from this Program have also helped cushion some of our operational expenses.

New Parents interested in applying for the Participation Program must indicate this on the registration form.  Specialized skills that are identified will help the Participation Coordinator to fill positions as they become available. New parents are required to attend a mandatory meeting in the spring (date to be announced each year).  Among other things, this meeting will outline the Participation Program and give a brief background and rationale. Parents may also be required to attend an additional meeting as called by the category manager.

Upon acceptance parents are expected to make themselves available for a full twelve months of that school year, starting in July. A MINIMUM of 50 hours participation per year is required. Using the Bingo Model as a baseline most workers are required to work at least 4 hours 13 times a year, totaling 52 hours per year. The Education Committee requires from all Participating Parents a set of ten monthly cheques (dated September to June) for the amount of $100 per month. If a family fails to meet its participation requirements in any month, the cheque for that month will be immediately deposited.  All un-cashed non-participation cheques will be destroyed, or may be picked up by you, at the end of June. The Education Committee would like to reinforce that it is against policy to hire outside help to fulfill you participation requirements and therefore unacceptable.

Parents wishing to change their participation category may apply to do so by completing a category transfer form. You can obtain this form from your current category manager. Most category transfers take place in the spring and category openings are advertised in the school newsletter.
